Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa
An Atlantic City masterpiece, this unique collaboration between MGM Resorts and Boyd Gaming established a new level of design for Atlantic City. MGM owned the land and thus the exterior signs belonged to MGM while the interior signs for the buildings and garage belonged to Boyd. Our scope also included the New Jersey DOT sign designs from the tunnel to property line.
Early in the planning stages the owner/developer for Boyd made a conscience decision to not over-sign the building. Interior circulation was very intuitive and while there were many individual destinations, they were relatively easy to find. In lieu of overhead signs, a double-sided, free standing information sign was designed and strategically placed at primary walkways, pedestrian entrances, and elevator lobbies. Whereas most Las Vegas properties rely on many overhead directional signs, the single overhead sign at the Borgata was located at the demarcation between the casino and parking garage. EDA’s scope of work included comprehensive design for all signage in the property and has been extended through several expansions and renovations.
