University of Tulsa Master Plan

Eslick Design was engaged to provide a comprehensive signage master plan for the 230-acre University of Tulsa campus. The program included all campus buildings and facilities; academic, athletic, student housing, dining, library, and research facilities. The design for the sign program aligned itself with the Collegiate Gothic architecture while incorporating more contemporary typography and materials.

Established in 1904, the campus is heavily populated by many mature trees which concealed the names inscribed above many building entrances. In addition to graphically illustrating how raising the tree canopies would help reveal the historical inscriptions, Eslick created a free-standing sign type not unlike the postal street markers used to identify walkways to building entrances in an urban garden district.
